I moved to the dream center in Los Angeles, CA and live on the family floor. My oldest 3 kids are now in school, and my youngest boy is signed up for next year. Still living off foodstamps and unable to find a babysitter so I can work, I have no cash. And I live off of donations and huge amounts of carbs and sugar (soup kitchen cooking) It has made me gain 40 LBs over 2 months and now I am at risk of a stroke unless I go on a low carb diet. But when you are homeless and eating from a soup kitchen (and hungry most of the day) you eat what they give you.
My life has stagnated up to this point, and won't move forward untill I get a job or enough money to get a place to live. I spend 4 hours a day looking for bottles to cash, but the dream center kinda makes you do alot of things in order to stay here, like church twice a week, bible study twice a week, weekly assesment to see if you are improving your life (not that you can with the work load they give you) And adopt a block every Saturday (feeding homeless people in the city) They say it isn't much, but when you compare what they want you to do for them just to stay, to what you need to do to live in the real world, there just isn't enough time to do everything.
My day is like this:
Wake up 5:00Am
Shower and dress/ make-up bed 6:00Am
Eat breakfast 6:55 Am
Take kids to school 7:35 Am
Go back to the shelter and take care of things 8:30 Am
9:00 Am-11:30Am Bottling/cleaning
Eat lunch 12:00 Pm
Take nap 12:30 PM
Pick kids up from school 2:00 PM
do homework with kids 3:00 PM
Eat dinner 4:00 PM
5:00 PM- 7:00PM go out to look for bottles to sell.
Put kids to bed 8:00PM
9:00 PM- 11:00Pm Chores.
12:00Am Bedtime.
And this is just for the regular day off. on Monday, wednesday, and friday. The other days are different. So you see why I can not get anywhere! I literally have no way, If I miss one of the mandated things on their schedule they will kick me and the kids out.
